Alphabet pasta, additionally referred to as alfabeto and alphabetti pastas in the UK, is a pasta that has been mechanically reduced or pressed into the shapes of the letters of an alphabet (commonly the Latin alphabet). It is usually served in an alphabet soup, which is also marketed in a container of compressed broth or as a package soup. An additional variant, alphagetti, contains letter-shaped pasta in a marinara or pastas sauce. Small items of carrot and some flavors are usually contributed to the filling. The noodles are normally as much as one centimeter in size and are formed like the letters A-Z and, much more seldom, the numbers 0-9 or the @ sign.
